Two incumbents and one new member to the city council

In the ballot for the Town of Van Horn City Council voters elected three candidates this past Saturday. When the last vote was counted, voters had re-elected two incumbents and voted in a new member.

Voters opted to return incumbents Lyndon McDonald and Joseph Corrales to the council. With McDonald receiving 217 votes and Corrales receiving 127 votes. Voters opted to elect a new council member, Rene Mendoza, Jr., with 154 votes.

Proposition 1 gets nod

Proposition 1 was overwhelmingly approved by voters by 281 in favor. Town of Van Horn Proposition 1: The reauthorization of local sales and use tax in the Town of Van Horn, at a rate of one-forth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
