According to data from the State Comptroller’s Office, the Town of Van Horn set a record for sales tax collections in 2022. Van Horn was at $1,479,543 when they reported sales tax collections figures towards the end of 2022.
2022 revenue grew 13.47% as collections in 2021 were $1,303,836.34.
Texas imposes a 6.25 percent state sales and use tax on all retail sales, leases and rentals of most goods, as well as taxable services. Local taxing jurisdictions (cities, counties, special purpose districts and transit authorities) can also impose up to 2 percent sales and use tax for a maximum combined rate of 8.25 percent.
The 8% sales tax rate in Van Horn consists of 6.25% Texas state sales tax and 1.75% Van Horn tax.
