Eagles overpower Anthony with 40-8 win to cap off Homecoming activities

Last Friday night, the Van Horn Eagles out-gunned the Anthony Wildcats 40-8. The Eagles amassed a total of 414 total yards on offense while only allowing 88 total yards on defense.

Fabian Baeza set the tone for the night by completing 15 passes on 22 attempts and throwing four touchdowns without turning the ball over. Luis Urias was on the receiving end of Baeza’s passes, earning 123 yards and finding the end zone three times.

The home team continued the offensive onslaught on the ground as six different players rushed the ball for a total of 142 yards. Leading rusher of the night was Sammy Quintana with 43 yards on five attempts with one touchdown. Rafael Rodriguez rushed for 34 yards and a touchdown of his own late in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, the Eagles limited the Wildcats to just 88 total yards and allowed just one touchdown. Sam Rivera, Nando Subia, and Luis Escajeda proved to be too much for Anthony as they accounted for 13 tackles between the three.

Van Horn earned their third victory of the season bringing their overall record to 3-1. Tomorrow the Eagles will have a long road trip ahead of them as they take on the Christoval Cougars at 7:30 p.m.
