Construction began last week on the renovations to the Town of Van Horn Convention Center. According to Jerry Pedroza, superintendent of the project from Pride General Contractors in El Paso, said that weather permitting, the renovations could be completed before July. So far, said Mr. Pedroza, restrooms, a new ceiling, and a new stage have been refurbished. A new paved parking lot will be constructed on the west side of the building, and a new sprinkler system will be added. The convention center will grow by an additional 4,500 square feet.
