Filing underway for 2018 local regular elections

Filing has commenced for the Saturday, May 5, 2018 elections for the Town of Van Horn City Council, the CCAISD Board of Trustees, the Culberson County Hospital District Board of Directors and the Culberson County Groundwater Conservation District. 

In the Town election, voters will vote to fill the vacant Mayoral seat; the terms for Aldermen Rudy Hinojos and Pam Young are also up. The seats held by Rocio Apgar and Jack Dorris on the CCAISD Board will be up for grabs in the School District election.  Three seats are up for the Hospital District– those held by Edwin Easley, Larry Simpson, and Gracie Mendoza.  And finally, the CCGCD has two positions on the ballot for seats currently held by Vance Cottrell and Cuco Corrales.

The deadline for filing is Monday, February 16, at 5:00 p.m.  Candidates are urged to turn in their application for a place on the ballot well before the deadline. Candidate packets can be picked up at City Hall for all elections.  The following candidates have already filed:

CULBERSON COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT – 3 DIRECTORS

CULBERSON COUNTY—ALLAMOORE ISD—2 TRUSTEES

CULBERSON COUNTY GROUNDWATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT—2 DIRECTORS

  • None

Early Voting for the elections will begin Monday, April 23, and run through Tuesday, May 1.
