Eagle Athletics Department
This past weekend on October 3rd, the Van Horn High School Cross Country Team traveled to Alpine to compete in the Big Bend Mountain Ramble at Kokernot Park. Sarah Allen, Cy Garcia, Felipe Gonzales, Julian Hernandez, Caleb Hinojos, Ethan Hinojos, Rowdy King, and Nathaniel Yglecias were the Eagle participants and ran hard against bigger schools such as Alpine, Presidio, Kermit, Fort Stockton, and Odessa High.
Our boys not only competed with other runners, but they also faced hills and an additional 2k more in distance. Sarah Allen, (our newest Lady Eagle), shaved-off almost an entire 3 minutes from her last meet time. Coach Hernandez and I are extremely proud of these athletes and we will continue to do our best to facilitate progress and success.
Our meet that was set for October 7 has been removed from our schedule due to COVID-19 cases. Despite all that is going on in the world, these athletes are working extremely hard every single day not only in athletics, but academically as well. Great work, Eagles! Be great!
