Early voting underway

Early voting continues through April 30

Early voting in the coming May 4 municipal election began on Monday, April, 22 and continues through Tuesday, April 30.

Posts for the Culberson County-Allamoore Independent School District Board of Trustees and Town of Van Horn City Council are on the ballot. Voters will also decide in favor or against CCAISD Proposition A & B.

If you’re registered and have a valid form of ID, you’re ready to vote early for the May 4 municipal elections. To cast your early vote, you need to go by city hall any time during regular business hours. Extended hours days are scheduled for Friday, April 26 and Tuesday, April 30 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Voters will be electing three full-term (2 year) city aldermen for the Town of Van Horn.

Candidates for the city council alderman seats include incumbents Lyndon McDonald, Ryan Martinez, Nuny Morriss; Sam Bhakta, Marcial Gonzalez, Jesus “Chuy” Ramirez, Karolyne Carloss, and Joseph Corrales.

In the school trustee election, voters will be electing three full-term (3 year) trustees to the school board.

Candidates for the school board trustee seats include incumbents Angelica “Angie” Gonzalez, Romelia “Romy” Ramirez; Michael Baeza and Cody Davis.

Culberson County-Allamoore Independent School District will have two Propositions to vote “For” or “Against.” Proposition A “The issuance of $10,000,000 of Bonds for the Construction, Acquisition, Renovation and Equipment of School Buildings in the District and the Levying of a Tax Sufficient, without Limit as to Rate or Amount to Pay the Costs of any Credit Agreements Executed or Authorized in Anticipation of, in Relation to or in Connection with the Bonds.” Proposition B “The issuance of $3,085,000 of Bonds for the Refunding of All or Any Portion of the District’s Maintenance Tax Notes, Series 2104; and the Levying of a Tax Sufficient, without Limit as to Rate or Amount, to Pay the Principal of and said Interest on the Bonds and to Pay the Costs of any Credit Agreements Executed or Authorized in Anticipation of, in Relation to or in Connection with the Bonds.”
